FMCS successfully mediated a contract amendment between MV Transportation and the Amalgamated Transit Union, ending a 14-day bus operator strike in Jackson, MS. FMCS assisted Gibson Electric Membership Corporation and its employees represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 816 and Local 474 in reaching a new three-year agreement that averted a potential work stoppage. The negotiations involved more than 100 employees and covered critical utility operations serving communities across western Kentucky and western Tennessee.
FMCS helped Con Edison and UWUA Local 1-2 reach a four-year agreement for 8,000 utility workers, preventing a strike during a heat wave and ensuring a continuous power supply and public safety for millions of New Yorkers.

FMCS assisted Mayo Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) in resolving stalled contract talks covering 700 employees. The parties reached a new three-year agreement, averting a strike that could have disrupted patient care at one of Minnesota’s largest hospitals and safeguarded stability for both employees and the surrounding community.
2025 13 – HMH Jersey Shore – HPAE
FMCS mediation prevents strike for 1,600 nurses at HMH Jersey Shore and HPAE. FMCS guided Hackensack Meridian Health and HPAE Local 5058 to a three-year agreement for 1,600 nurses, preventing a costly strike and safeguarding trauma care services for communities across New Jersey.
2025 12 – Prime Healthcare – JNESO
FMCS mediators help avert strike, secure agreement between Prime Healthcare–St. Michael’s and JNESO. FMCS mediated a three-year contract for 325 nurses and healthcare professionals at Prime Healthcare–St. Michael’s, averting a strike and protecting patient care at a critical safety-net hospital in Newark.
2025 10 – Butler Hospital-SEIU
FMCS mediators help end strike and secure agreement for Butler Hospital and SEIU Healthcare. FMCS helped Butler Hospital and SEIU Healthcare New England reach a four-year agreement for 800 workers, ending a 102-day strike and restoring psychiatric care capacity for patients across Rhode Island.
2025 09 – FMCS Mediator Helps Rainy Lake Medical Center and Technical Staff Reach Agreement
FMCS mediated a three-year agreement between Rainy Lake Medical Center and AFSCME Local 65, covering 25 technical employees The mediation prevented a work stoppage at the only hospital within 90 miles, safeguarding access to essential healthcare in northern Minnesota. The agreement ensured workforce stability, maintained critical technical expertise, and protected patients in a rural community where severe winter weather limits alternatives to medical care.
2025 02 – Federal Mediators Help Settle Oregon’s Largest Nurses Strike at Providence Hospitals
FMCS successfully mediated a contract agreement between Providence hospitals and nurses represented by the Oregon Nurses Association and AFT, resolving the largest nurses’ strike in Oregon history. The agreement covered 5,000 healthcare workers across eight hospitals and helped stabilize hospital operations, address staffing shortages, and implement Oregon’s nurse staffing law.
