Description:
Whether you represent the employer or the union, collective bargaining is at the center of the labor/management relationship.
Intentional Negotiations is a method of sweeping aside the traditional, adversarial process of proposal-based collective bargaining and committing to a process whereby the parties fully understand the problem to be solved, the concerns around those problems and feasible options that exist for resolution.
Commissioner Disotell created this Best Practice after seven years of researching what “good” negotiation processes looked like. After beta-testing this new method over the past year, it appears that groups utilizing Intentional Negotiations are reaching tentative agreements in 60 percent of their first proposals and about 90 percent of their second passes. For groups who find comfort in proposals, but wish to utilize a collaborative model, this model will provide for expedited processes and durable outcomes.
This course is presented online.
