Online Arbitration System
FMCS does not issue arbitration decisions. Arbitrators are not FMCS employees.
Our online system arbitration requests is defined to be simple and flexible. If you experience any difficulties, please notify us at arbitration@fmcs.gov or by calling 202-606-5111.
As of October 1st, 2023, the cost for an online “Panel” of arbitrators (up to seven) processed on-line is $100 and for a manual request (or manual delivery) for a “Panel” of arbitrators (up to 13) from FMCS staff is $175. Requesting a panel online is the preferred method, being easier, quicker, more reliable, and less expensive than submission of the PDF form. NOTE: IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE A PANEL WITHIN 24 HOURS OF YOUR REQUEST, PLEASE NOTIFY US AT 202-606-5111
Bear in mind that, while the request form allows for special requirements (for example, geography other than standard choices, affiliations, certifications, industry experience), a party submitting such requirements is certifying that both parties have agreed to what is specified.
Standard geographic choices are regional (see map below), sub-regional (within a 250-mile radius of the dispute), and metropolitan (either a 60 or 125-mile radius to select from).
