Instructor: Commissioner Moira Caruso
If you seek to influence others, there is no single tool or technique more powerful and more readily available to you than the art of storytelling. Whether you consider yourself a storyteller or not, you tell others about what happened to you. Getting purposeful about the stories you tell (and how you tell them) is what sets the persuasive storyteller apart from the rest.
When you develop your storytelling skills, you learn how to develop a communication strategy that addresses both facts and feelings while positioning yourself in a way to be heard, understood, and believed. The same principles that improve storytelling also develop leadership, emotional intelligence, self-examination, and communication skills across the board. When you learn storytelling, you also learn a new way to think.
This two-day course is highly interactive and will weave lecture/discussion with ample practice, exploring the following:
- Understanding the power of story
- The types of stories you need to be able to tell with skill
- Finding *your* stories
- Developing storytelling techniques
- Deriving meaning – and communicating that meaning clearly through story
- Being present and working with your audience in the moment
The participant limit for this course is 15.
