  Strongsville School Board, Teachers Ratify Agreement Reached with FMCS Help

INDEPENDENCE, OH—Ending an eight-week strike, the Strongsville, OH city schools Board of Education and the members of the Strongsville Education Association (SEA) have now ratified a new collective bargaining agreement reached April 26 with the assistance of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service.
 
Prior to reaching their agreement, lengthy negotiations between the parties had divided the suburban community and had included a number of intense, late-night mediation sessions before a tentative settlement was reached.
 

In coming to a final agreement, representatives of the Board and the SEA affirmed their joint commitment to move forward in a positive atmosphere, fully focused on creating a successful learning environment for the students, parents and community of Strongsville.

 
In remarks quoted in news reports about the settlement, Strongsville Board of Education President David Frazee thanked the FMCS for assisting in the negotiations. "The past eight weeks have been difficult, but the healing process begins today,” Frazee said. “We want to thank the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service regional office in Independence for their efforts." He also thanked the negotiating teams.
