FMCS Director George H. Cohen spoke today on the benefits of pro-active collaboration at a luncheon sponsored by the Polsinelli Shughart law firm.
While sharing his keys to successful negotiation, Director Cohen emphasized that collective bargaining belongs in an industrial democracy, much of it these days is fraught with antagonism, and that it doesn’t have to be that way. "Don’t wait until 30 days before a contract expires and sit across the table and stare at each other,” he said, recommending that it’s better to establish joint labor-management committees far in advance of contract expiration.
