With the assistance of a federal mediator, Co-op City management and unionized maintenance workers in the Bronx have reached a tentative agreement on a new four-year contract. Both the Service Employees International Union Local 32BJ and RiverBay Corp. agreed to accept FMCS mediation after failed labor talks sparked a lockout and week-long work stoppage. The union, which represents over 500 porters, handymen, and others at the country's largest housing development will meet on June 25 to vote on the agreement. Co-op City's board is scheduled to vote on June 30.
