Under the Labor-Management Act of 1947, FMCS provides free mediation services in contract negotiation disputes between employers and their unionized employees. All the parties have to do is make a request.

Mediation for Collective Bargaining
Collective bargaining mediation is a voluntary process that occurs when a third-party neutral assists the two sides in reaching agreement in contract negotiations.

Interest-Based Collective Bargaining
Interest-based bargaining is an alternative to collective bargaining, replacing traditional positional bargaining with a process of joint problem-solving.
