  With Mediator Help, Southern California Supermarket Chains and UFCW Locals Reach Tentative Agreement

With assistance from a federal mediator, a tentative agreement has been reached between Grocery workers in Southern California, represented by United Food and Commercial Workers locals 8GS, 135, 324, 770, 1167, 1428 and 1442, and Ralph’s, Albertsons and Vons supermarkets. After months of tense negotiations, and a final push of seven consecutive days of bargaining meetings with the mediator, the parties reached agreement on a tentative contract that will cover over 60,000 grocery workers throughout Southern California. Further details of the agreement will not be released until a ratification vote takes place in the coming week.
