Teamsters Strike Averted with Help from Federal Mediator

With assistance from a federal mediator, the city of Pekin, IL and Teamsters Local 627 reached a tentative agreement on Tuesday that will keep city services operational until both sides have an opportunity to ratify the pact. After several hours of negotiations, the parties agreed on a three-year contract and averted a planned strike that would interrupt school bus service and trash collection in the city.
