With assistance from a federal mediator, USD 234 school officials and teachers of the Fort Scott-Kansas National Education reached agreement on a contract for the 2012-13 school year. The agreement concludes over six months of negotiations that reached impasse over such issues as salary and insurance contributions. In comments to the news media, the parties credited FMCS Commissioner Patrick Dunn with helping to resolve the dispute.
